Arnor Crepes & Bubble Tea
1425 West 10th Street, Bensonhurst
347-554-8733
This brightly-colored Bensonhurst spot serves up a menu of bubble tea, stuffed crepes, and milkshakes. Of course, that’s not why it made this list. Arnor Crepes & Bubble Tea makes a delicious sundae with scoops of decadent ice cream, in flavors such as red bean and green tea, stuffed into a crepe and loaded with toppings. And the best part? The sundaes are served in a wire holder, so no messy fingers! Check out Bensonhurst Bean’s write-up of the crepe sundaes at Arnor’s, and add this Southern Brooklyn spot to your list of go-to ice cream spots.

Take the kids to Purple Yam in Ditmas Park to try Halo Halo, a hodgepodge Filipino ice cream dessert. Made with a mix of sweet beans, shaved ice, coconut, and flan, then topped with a scoop of bright, purple yam ice cream, Halo Halo is a surprisingly light and refreshing dessert. If your kids are in the mood for just a straight scoop of ice cream, Purple Yam’s menu also includes mango, jackfruit, or avocado ice cream — and some occasional creative specials, which Ditmas Park Corner recently reviewed.

Nieves Tia Mimi in Sunset Park is where you’ll find chamoyadas. These Mexican desserts can be ordered in fruity flavors such as, watermelon, mango, lime, or lemon, but it’s how the chamoyada is served that will make kids smile. Take your pick between a watermelon or pineapple bowl and watch as it gets filled to the top with a mix of helado, fresh fruit, dried tamarind, and for adventurous eaters, some chili sauce. If your kids don’t want to share (and who would blame them), chamoyadas also can be ordered in a single-serve cup.
