Track Fire at Newkirk Plaza Brought Thick Smoke and Brief Delays

Sarah Wagner just sent this picture of smoke in Newkirk Plaza.

I was walking past Newkirk Plaza when I saw smoke rising from the subway tracks. It smelled like fire lots of people gathered around but no one knew what was going on.

It was a track fire, says an MTA representative. Around 1:45 p.m., debris on the track caused delays for a few minutes before the fire was extinguished. The subway is looking fine now.
