Government Offices, Parking, And Sanitation

All government offices are closed on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, including courts and the Department of Motor Vehicles.

There is no mail delivery today.

All NYC public schools are closed. Students return to school on Tuesday, January 22.

Alternate side parking regulations are suspended. However, parking meters and all other parking regulations remain in effect.

There is no garbage, recycling, or organics collection on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. If you  normally have your trash or organics collected on Monday, you should place these items curbside after 4pm on Monday, January 21.

If you normally have your recycling picked up on Monday, you should place your recyclables curbside after 4pm next week on Sunday, January 27.

Libraries

All Brooklyn Public Library locations are closed on Monday, January 21.

Subways And Buses

The New York City subway will operate on a regular weekday schedule on Monday, January 21. New York City buses will run on a reduced weekday schedule with minor timing changes. Check MTA Bus Time for schedules.
