What Would the Members of Kicksonic Be if They Were Drinks at Sycamore?
Kicksonic is a band made up of eclectic musicians from five corners of New York: Ditmas Park locals Breukellen Riesgo and Mark Himmelstein, plus Jorge Naranjo, Carly DeLight, and Zack Elyshevits. They’re hoping to play a show at Sycamore soon, but until then you can catch them tomorrow, Saturday, August 11 at 8pm at Otto’s Shrunken Head in the East Village.
Since there are five members, we asked them five questions:
How did you guys get together?
We originally formed to play at fundraisers for the non-profit, Art Start. After positive responses at a few benefit shows, we took off.
What’s the best thing about playing music in NYC?
There are tons of fun venues to play at, and it’s amazing to meet so many other artists.
You said you’d like to play at Sycamore. How will you fit five people onto the stage?
We’re a tight-knit band–we don’t mind getting close : )
If each of the members of the band was a drink at Sycamore, what would they be?
Jorge would be a fuzzy navel because of his fuzzy navel. Carly is Cristal because she is classy, but packs a punch. Zach is a sex on the beach because, well… Breuk is a Breukelen Gin, or a Michelada (the bartenders at Sycamore know why). Mark is a Goose Island Honkers Ale because you are what you drink.
You all live in different parts of NYC–if each band member’s neighborhood were pitted against one another, which neighborhood would win and why?
Can’t we all just get along? (Except Staten Island.)
