What To Expect At The Fabulous Fifth Avenue Fair: Shopping, Rides, Road Closures & More
The annual Fabulous Fifth Avenue Fair from the Park Slope Fifth Avenue BID returns to 5th Ave between Sterling Place and 12th Street this Sunday, May 18 from 12-6pm. In addition to great opportunities for shopping, here’s what to look out for:
- Rides
- Antique automobiles
- Collectibles
- Live music: Bands performing in front of Smith’s Tavern, Chip Shop, and 200 Fifth; and a DJ in front of The Gate.
- Local food & drink joints set up outside, including the soon-to-open Luke’s Lobster, Grand Central Oyster Bar, Beygl, Bogota Latin Bistro, Stone Park Café, M & S Prime Meats, 200 Fifth, V-Spot, Bierkraft, Chip Shop, The Monro Pub, and Fleisher’s.
Of course, the event also means some changes to traffic patterns, as the entire stretch of 5th Ave from Sterling to 12th will be closed to vehicles. If you’re heading to the fair, leave the car at home, as parking will be difficult. Also watch out for changes to bus routes that run through this area from 11am-6pm:
- B61 buses rerouted from 9th St at 5th Ave: Northbound buses run via 15th St; southbound buses run via 14th St. Buses make corresponding stops along the detoured routes.
- B63 buses rerouted from 5th Ave between Atlantic Ave and 16th St: Buses will run via 4th Ave making corresponding stops in both directions.
