The Shift
When: Monday, June 8, 8:30pm
Where: Union Hall, 702 Union Street near 5th Avenue
What: The tables are turned and bartender, Therese Plaehn, becomes the host tonight, with a bevy of special guests behind the bar, including Maeve Higgins and Annie Worden. The evening will also feature a special house band made up of fellow Union Hall staffers.

Edwin Frank in conversation with Michael Ruby
When: Tuesday, June 9, 7pm
Where: Community Bookstore, 143 7th Avenue between Carroll Street and Garfield Place
What: In his new poetry collection, Snake Train, NYRB Classics editor Edwin Frank lashes together images from the contemporary moment’s fleeting beauty and vast destruction. In conversation with poet Michael Ruby.
How much: Free.

Punderdome 3000
When: Tuesday, June 9, 7:30pm
Where: Littlefield, 622 Degraw Street, between 3rd and 4th avenues
What: This wild and crazy monthly pun competition is hosted by Fred and Jo Firestone, a self-proclaimed Rodney Dangerfield impersonator and his comedian daughter. The first 18 people to sign up at the door will have a chance to participate in competitive spontaneous pun-making. Pun-masters are determined by the “human clap-o-meter.”
How much: $6 in advance, $7 at the door.

The Mingle
When: Wednesday, June 10, 6pm
Where: The Bell House, 149 7th Street at 2nd Avenue
What: Also known as the Party for No Reason, The Mingle is back! So come on out to Gowanus, bring your friends, and let’s pretend we don’t have to go to work the next day. There will be drink specials. There will be flirting. There will be music.
How much: Free.

Trivia Night
When: Wednesday, June 10, 7:30-9:30pm
Where: The Roof at Whole Foods Market, 214 3rd Street at 3rd Avenue
What: Spend the evening outside for a mid-week pick me up at The Roof with Trivia Night hosted by Trivia NYC! You’ll not only get bragging rights if you win, but some awesome prizes.
