Welcome to Coffee Land – Crown Heights Newest Coffee Shop

CROWN HEIGHTS — Another coffee shop has emerged within the Franklin Avenue and Eastern Parkway corridor— this one promising better service and waffles.

Coffee Land replaces Owl & Thistle General Store, at 833 Franklin Ave. between Union St. and Eastern Parkway and opened in late summer. The interior is mostly white, and the open concept space features wood-grain trim, stools and a countertop, with a La Marzocco machine ready to serve you. Conveniently located steps away from the Franklin Avenue station of the 3 and 4 trains, it opens at 6 a.m. on weekdays to help the working man or woman start their day off strong.

Coffee Land serves fresh waffles, omelets, and a noteworthy cream cheese assortment. These standouts separate the 700 sqft. java joint from the competition believes owner Nuh “Noah” Ohur, 35, who came to the states via Turkey in 2002.

Brooklynites can try the Franklin Avenue namesake bagel – topped with the stores homemade cream cheese mix of green olives, capers and sun dried tomatoes – The Franklin Spread. It will set you back $3.75. The La Colombe draft latte is the most popular drink at the moment, priced at $4.50 for a 16 oz. and $5.00 for 20 oz.

“I’m trying to be different than them and better than them,” Ohr said of the neighboring coffee shops, and focuses on pricing that works for everyone – “We’d like to see teachers and students come in,” he said.

Frequent visitors can get their Coffee Land cards punched and with every 10 coffee purchases receive a free cup of their choice.
