This Weekend’s Open House Picks

We’ve rounded up some of the more interesting open houses happening in and around Ditmas Park this Sunday. Any thoughts on these places?

385 East 18th Street, #4J
List Price: $390,000
Size: One bedroom, one bathroom
Details: If this cute little pre-war abode was your home, you’d be super close to Cortelyou Road and all the shopping and restaurants there. The sunny one-bedroom spot has an eat-in kitchen that was just renovated (and has a dishwasher!), a bedroom that’s located in the back of the building (potentially meaning a quieter space), four large closets, and is close to the Cortelyou Road Q subway stop. The building includes storage, bike storage, a play room, and a shared back yard.
Open House: Sunday, November 9, 2:30-4pm

5 Stratford Road #4A
List Price: $495,000
Size: Two bedrooms, one bathroom
Details: We’ve noticed this two bedroom apartment in a pre-war building has been on the market for a while, and we’re wondering if you think it’ll sell at the current $495,000 price tag? The space is right by Prospect Park’s Parade Grounds, which means you’re right by lots of space to run around (as well as being right by Prospect Park itself), though there has been an uptick in crime in the area as of late, according to police. The apartment itself has a master bedroom that seems to get lots of natural light from its three windows, there’s a common courtyard and garden, and the building is pet friendly. You’d be close to restaurants and shopping on Church Avenue, as well as the B/Q subway stop there. You’re not a far walk from the dining and shopping on Cortelyou Road either, or you’re one subway stop away.
Open House: Sunday, November 19, 1-2:30pm

570 Westminster Road #C28
List Price: $569,000
Size: Two bedrooms, one bathroom
Details: We’re loving the original art deco adornments in this pre-war apartment – the decorative archways, high ceilings, inlayed hardwood flooring, and more. The space seems like it gets lots of natural light – especially that bedroom! – and you’d have views of the building’s newly redesigned garden. There’s an eat-in kitchen, new stainless steel appliances, and a living room with a decent amount of space. The building has a 24-hour doorman, a laundry room, a storage room, bike storage, a common garden space – and you’d be located just above Milk and Honey. Plus, you’d be allowed to bring your pets (it seems like cats and dogs are welcome).
Open House: Sunday, November 9, 1:30-3:30pm.

787 East 19th Street
List Price: $1,495,000
Size: Eight bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms
Details: If we had $1,495,000 to spare, we’d have our eye on this gorgeous house. It’s got all the Victorian fixings we love: stained glass, coffered ceiling, parquet floors everywhere, original wood details, pocket doors, and more. We can imagine it now: you wake up, read in your eat-in kitchen with some kind of fancy I-own-a-million-and-a-half-dollar-home-breakfast, and spend your day wandering around your 13 rooms and taking a bath in your claw-foot tub. At least, that’s what we’d want to do.
