This Weekend’s Fort Greene-Clinton Hill Open House Picks
We’ve rounded up some of the more interesting open houses happening around Fort Greene and Clinton Hill this weekend. Any thoughts on these places?
531 Vanderbilt Avenue #1A
List Price: $399,000, $198 common charges
Size: Studio, one bathroom
Details: This place in a spanking new development has some lovely finishes, including herringbone parquet floors, stone countertops, and ever-popular stainless steel appliances, plus a washer/dryer hookup to boot. More importantly, though, it’s the least expensive apartment available in the neighborhood this week — and situated just north of Atlantic Avenue, it’ll put you near all the transportation, bars, restaurants, and shopping Fulton Street has to offer.
Open House: Sunday, March 1, 1-3pm
193 Clinton Avenue #5A
List Price: $499,000, $781 maintenance
Size: Converted two bedrooms, one bathroom
Details: Since this originally one bedroom unit has been made into a place for two, we can’t swear it’ll feel particularly spacious; however, we’re certain a second private space will come in handy, at least from time to time, and that it’s near impossible to find another two bed (converted or otherwise) around for this price. If the extra divvying up isn’t for you, you can always switch the layout back anyway — plus in this building, you can bring your best furry friend, your bike/car (there’s storage and parking available), your dirty dishes (there’s a dishwasher in the kitchen), and your affinity for Myrtle Avenue, which is just a block away.
Open House: Sunday, March 1, 1-2pm
383 Carlton Avenue #11E
List Price: $1,850,000, $1,274 common charges
Size: Three bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms
Details: Now who’s that peeking in your window? Nobody, ’cause you live in a penthouse. More specifically, a duplex penthouse with two terraces, a balcony, and a roof deck, 20 ft ceilings in the living room, and exposures on three sides, all in a building with multiple common recreation areas including, ahem, a Zen garden. Oh, and did we mention it’s right near Cuyler Gore, Fulton Street, Lafayette Avenue, and the rest of the bustling heart of Fort Greene? All that stuff may not make for catchy lyrics, but it’s probably important too.
Open House: Sunday, March 1, 1-2:30pm
309 Clinton Avenue
List Price: $4,112,400
Size: Six bedrooms, three bathrooms, split over two units
Details: The overly flowery/repetitive description of this place is about as confusing as its price (Really, that last $400? Not even $500, if anything?), but we can’t deny this home’s a regal one. Original inlaid floors, fabulous moulding, and at least one ornamental fireplace are all present in this nearly 3,500 sq ft 1920s mansion, which is currently split into two units — but apparently quite un-splittable if that’s what you, your architect, and the LPC are into. You’ll also nab yourself two large yard areas with this one, as well as a location handy to Dekalb, Lafayette, the G train, and the Flea.
Open House: Sunday, March 1, 12-2pm
