Free Friday: Celebrating The Art Of The Written Letter

Where: The Brooklyn Historical Society at 128 Pierrepont Street (yes, I’m asking you to shlep to Brooklyn Heights)
What: Celebrate the written word with calligraphy, love letter writing, and other assorted activities. Additionally, there’s a workshop on _how to take the best iPhone photos_. We could all use that.

This adorable child wants you to Bike The Branches.

Bike The Branches
When: 10am – 5pm
Where: The 60+ branches of the Brooklyn Public Library
What: Bike through Brooklyn’s libraries, get “branch passports”, and win all sorts of awards and prizes while raising awareness for a good cause. Adults and children who get the most stamps at the end of the day win prizes.
How much: Free

Get Weird With Urban Glass
When: Saturday, 1pm – 5pm
Where: Urban Glass at 647 Fulton Street
What: Glass working, glass blowing, and flame working. Making glass is (literally) hot and requires lots of science. That science gets weird, and weird is cool.
How much: Free for some activities, not so much for others.

Fort Greene Park Greenmarket
When: Every Saturday from 8am-4pm
Where: Washington Park between DeKalb and Willoughby Avenues
What: Weekly farmers market with live music and family-friendly activities.

What: A series of mini-operas about Fort Greene Park and its history from the grad program at Tisch. Go Violets!

Where: Bethel SDA Health Ministry at 457 Grand Avenue
What: Weekly exercise class with dumbbells, tension ropes, exercise ball, treadmill and the guidance of a certified fitness instructor.

Show and Tell Photos Of Your Clinton Hill Neighborhood

Where: Clinton Hill Library at 380 Washington Avenue
What: Bring a picture and your written short caption/short story that tells the story of your Clinton Hill neighborhood. It can be a picture of a person or persons, a place, a thing, a picturesque memory. All photographic short stories/captions & pictures will be displayed in the Clinton Hill Library for you and your neighbors to see for the month of September 2015.
