Where: Prospect Park Audubon Center
What: If the family would like to learn a bit more about the neighborhood’s fair feathered friends, join the Brooklyn Bird Club in Prospect Park this weekend and discover some of the 250 species of birds that call our park home.

PS 124 Rummage Sale Drop Off
When: Saturday, March 1, 1pm to 3pm
Where: 4th Avenue entrance to PS 124, between 13th and 14th Streets
What: The gang at PS 124 is joining forces with Wearable Collections and Lower East Side Ecology Center for a giant rummage sale/recycling event on Saturday, April 12, and starting this weekend, they’re accepting donations.
How Much: Free

Songs For Unusual Creatures
When: Saturday, March 1, 4pm
Where: Barbes, 376 9th Street, near 6th Avenue
What: Looking for oddball family fun? Michael Hearst, along with his five-piece band, returns to Barbes with “a highly-geeky A/V presentation of some of the most bizarre animals that roam the planet.” How can you pass that up?
How Much: $10 (strongly) suggested donation

Oscar Night At Mary’s Bar
When: Sunday, March 2, 7pm
Where: Mary’s Bar, 708 5th Avenue at 23rd Street
What: Pick up a ballot anytime this week, fill in your choices for the various awards, and return it by 7pm on Sunday for a chance to win a $50 bar tab and a bottle of Champagne (sweet).
How much: No Cover

Oscar Night At Cafe Steinhof
When: Sunday, March 2, 7pm
Where: Cafe Steinhof, 422 7th Avenue at 14th Street
What: Mary’s Bar isn’t the only one rocking Oscar this weekend. Pick up a ballot at Cafe Steinhof, watch the Hollywood celebration with a little goulash, and when it’s all said and done, the three ballots that come closest to a perfect score will win a free dinner.
