Weekend Crime Blotter: An EMT Assaulted in the Back of an Ambulance, A Knife-Point Robbery in Bed-Stuy & More

BOROUGH PARK – A man sexually assaulted an employee at a Borough Park religious organization earlier this month, police said.

The 47-year old male victim was working inside Munkach Malmud Torah at 5202 13th Avenue around 10:00 am on Sunday, September 2, when the suspect approached him and groped his privates before fleeing on foot, police said.

WINDSOR TERRACE – A snatch-and-grab cell phone theft in Windsor Terrace has police looking for a suspect to charge with grand larceny.

The theft took place on Sunday, August 26, around 12:30 pm, police said, in front of 1195 Prospect Avenue. A 37-year old woman was walking along Prospect Ave when the suspect stole her cell phone and fled down Vanderbilt Avenue, police said.

BAY RIDGE – After an attempted rape in Bay Ridge that was foiled by a passerby intervening, police have arrested and charged a suspect: Emmanuel Martinez-Hernandez, 24, a resident of Bay Ridge.

Martinez-Hernandez has been charged with attempted rape, forcible touching and sexual abuse in connection with the attack that happened on Saturday, August 25, police confirmed.


SOUTH SLOPE – Police are looking for the creep that exposed himself to a woman on a G train late last month.

The incident occurred as the northbound train was approaching the 15th Street/Prospect Park station around 4:00 pm on Monday, August 27, police said. After the man exposed himself to a 38-year old woman, she was able to snap a picture of the offender, which can be seen below:

BED-STUY – After a knife-point robbery in Bed-Stuy, police are asking the public for their help in tracking down the perpetrators.

The robbery occurred on Friday, August 17, near Stockton Street and Tompkins Avenue, around 3:45 pm, police said. While a 42-year old man was walking along the street, the suspect pushed him up against a wall, pulled out a knife and demanded he empty his pockets.

The victim complied, turning over about $3,300 to his attacker, who luckily left the man unharmed. Surveillance video of the robbery—and the suspect—can be seen below:


WILLIAMSBURG – Police are looking for the man who inappropriately touched a woman on a Canarsie-bound L train last month.

The incident occurred on Friday, August 10, just after midnight, as the train approached the Bedford Avenue station in Williamsburg. The man placed his hand on the buttocks of the woman standing next to him, police said.

MIDWOOD – Finally, police are looking for the man who struck an EMT—while he was being treated!

The assault took place on Tuesday, August 7, around noon in the area of East 15th Street and Kings Highway, police said. The 55-year-old EMT was treating a patient inside an ambulance when the patient struck the EMT in the chest several times with his fist before fleeing the scene.
