Weekend Crime Blotter: Con-Ed Con Men Rob Elderly Woman in Manhattan Beach, High-End Williamsburg Vending Machine Predictably Ripped-Off & More
CLINTON HILL – A group of young men held up a Clinton Hill wine shop Friday night, but the armed oenophiles seemed to prefer cash to cabernet.
The robbery took place on Friday, October 19, around 7:00 pm said police, when four suspects in their late teens or early twenties entered Tipsy, the wine shop at 584 Myrtle Avenue, at Classon. One of the men pulled a gun on the 28-year-old woman behind the counter and demanded the contents of the register—about $500.
Fleeing on foot after the robbery, the suspects left their victim unharmed. Police have released security video of the suspects, which can be seen below:
MANHATTAN BEACH – Two men posing as utility workers robbed an 88-year-old woman in Manhattan Beach last week, and now police are attempting to track them down.
Around 3:40 pm on Thursday, October 18, the men knocked at the door of the residence, one wearing a hi-viz construction vest, and told the woman who answered they needed to check out a utility issue inside the home, said police. The octogenarian granted them access, and the two thieves forcibly stole $2,500 from the victim.
They fled the scene in a dark pickup truck driven by a third accomplice, police said. The victim was unharmed and refused medical attention at the scene.

BOROUGH PARK – Details are decidedly scarce, but police are searching for the man who stabbed another in a building under the Fort Hamilton Parkway Station.
The stabbing took place on Sunday, October 14, around 12:30 am, said police. The suspect entered 4417 New Utrecht Avenue, approached a 29-year-old man and stabbed him once in the chest and once in the stomach.
Responding EMS transported the victim to a nearby hospital in critical but stable condition, police said.

WILLIAMSBURG – In a move that is probably best described as “inevitable,” someone appears to have stolen thousands of dollars of jewelry from a high-end vending machine placed outside the William Vale in Williamsburg.
Police said the caper occurred last month, on Thursday, September 20, when a thief used fraudulent credit cards to buys $13,000 worth of jewelry from the machine.
Apparently, with such a valuable target open to the public, there were some security cameras running, and police have released images of their suspect:
WILLIAMSBURG – Finally, police are reaching back to the summer to finally release an image of a man suspected of stealing a motorcycle from an apartment complex on Union Avenue in August.
The theft took place on Wednesday, August 8, police said, around 2:15 pm. The thief stole the victim’s blue 2003 Suzuki motorcycle from the side of the massive residential development at 544 Union Avenue, between Frost and Withers streets.
