Sunday is predicted to be the better day for weather this weekend, which is perfect because that day is packed with lots to do!

Saturday has free musical shows at Washington Park and Manhattan Beach. Sunday offers the Soul Summit Music Festival at Fort Greene Park, and what will surely be a fascinating discussion among five female forces of the media industry.

The Connective Project
When: On view from Friday, July 7 to Monday, July 17
Where: Prospect Park, Rose Garden, Park Slope
What: In celebration of its 150th anniversary, Prospect Park is presenting an immersive community art project consisting of thousands of pinwheels made from artwork and prose submitted by the public to an online gallery.

Enchantment Under the Sea Dance
When: Friday, July 7, 8pm
Where: littlefield, 635 Sackett Street, Gowanus
What: This recreation of the dance from Back to the Future features Not Fade Away, a Buddy Holly tribute band. Don your best 1950’s prom drag and have your portrait taken with your date. A portion of the night’s proceeds will go to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.

Priscilla Queen of the Desert
When: Thursdays through Saturdays, July 6, 7, 8, 13, 14, 15, 20, 21, 22 at 8pm
Where: The Old Stone House at Washington Park, Fourth Avenue between 3rd & 4th Streets, Park Slope
What: Piper Theatre’s musical production of the 1994 comedy The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert moves the trio of traveling drag performers from the 1990s Australian outback to today’s Trump-era America, addressing themes of transgender rights, homophobia, and gay parenting.

The Commons Choir: Community Workshops
When: Saturdays, July 8, 15, 22, 29 from 11am to 12:30pm
Where: BRIC House Ballroom, 647 Fulton Street (enter at Rockwell Place), Fort Greene
What: Artist in Residence, The Commons Choir, is offering free movement and vocal workshops for the community. The Choir uses voice and movement as links between art, health, and social change. Classes will begin with a gentle qigong warm-up, then proceed to the vocal exercises. Participants of all ages and experience levels are welcome.

Wycliffe Gordon

Swingin’ in New Orleans: Wycliffe Gordon and His International All-Stars
When: Saturday, July 8, 8pm
Where: On Stage at Kingsborough, 2001 Oriental Boulevard, Manhattan Beach
What: As part of the Hot Summer Nights! Free Outdoor Concert Series, celebrated jazz trombonist Wycliffe Gordon pays tribute to the great Louis Armstrong and transports the audience to NOLA by playing classics including When the Saints Go Marchin’ In and St. Louis Blues.

Soul Summit Music Festival
When: Sunday, July 9, 3pm to 8pm
Where: Fort Greene Park by the Prison Ship Martyrs Monument, Fort Greene
What: This festival/dance party/picnic showcases diverse artists including DJs, musicians, dancers, fashion designers, filmmakers, and photographers for a day of art, family, food, music, shopping, and lots of dancing!

Pioneer Works Second Sundays
When: Sunday, July 9, 4pm to 10:30pm
Where: Pioneer Works, 159 Pioneer Street, Red Hook
What: This non-profit Red Hook cultural center dedicated to multi-disciplinary experimentation, education, and production hosts a free event series every second Sunday of the month. There will be open studios with the artists in residence, exhibits, live music, and participatory programs focusing on art, science, technology and education.

The Fence 2017

Where: Brooklyn Bridge Park, DUMBO
What: For six years, this large-scale, outdoor photography exhibition has showcased the work of artists from around the world on a fence lining the perimeter of Brooklyn Bridge Park. The themes of this year’s edition explore Home, Streets, People, Creatures, Nature, Play, and Food.
