Weekday Fun: The Best Events October 7-9

Once this stormy weather clears up, which it should by this evening, go out and enjoy those tornado-free skies! From a tour of a library’s archives to trivia and comedy, we’ve got some cool free and cheap stuff coming up this week.

The Brooklyn Collection Archives Tour
When: Monday, October 7, 6pm
Where: Central Library, 2nd Floor Balcony, 10 Grand Army Plaza
What: See an exhibition and get an open house tour during this insider’s look at the Brooklyn Collection as part of Archives Week. Light refreshments will be served.

Snugg’s Last Jam
When: Monday, October 7, 8pm
Where: Two Boots, 514 2nd Street
What: Wish Jarad Astin well on his travels, as the leader of the organ jam sets sail (quite literally) for a new adventure. Drop in to join the melting pot jam, or just hang out and listen.
How much: Free!

Cheap Date Comedy Show
When: Tuesday, October 8, 8pm (doors 7:30pm)
Where: Union Hall, 702 Union Street
What: Join hosts Sharron Paul and Calvin Cole and some of the city’s funniest comics (including Barry Rothbart, Hari Kondabolu, Kat Burdick, and many more) for a night of big laughs and free snacks.

TriviaTryst
When: Wednesday, October 9, 8:30pm
Where: The Rock Shop, 249 4th Avenue
What: Gather your most knowledgeable friends for this trivia night where teams of up to 6 people can win $50 in prizes, plus prizes from Brooklyn Brewery.

New York Comic Con Pre-Party
When: Wednesday, October 9, 8pm
Where: Bergen Street Comics, 470 Bergen Street
What: Leading up to the big superfan convention, hang out and have a free drink with a few of the writers and artists in the biz, including Zack Soto, Farel Dalrymple, John Dermot Woods, and Nathan Fox.
How much: Free!
