Wednesday Crime Blotter: Skimming Extra Cheese at Grimaldi’s, Duct-Taped in a Home Invasion Robbery & More

DUMBO – Someone was trying to steal a little extra cheddar at Grimaldi’s. Police are looking for the man who installed a credit card skimmer on an ATM at the well-known Brooklyn pizza spot last month.

After receiving a call that a skimmer was installed on an ATM at One Front Street, the famous Grimaldi’s coal-fired pizza place, NYPD units responded and removed the device. So far, police say no funds have been reported stolen. But with the number of tourists passing through, it’s hard to say who may have swiped their cards and left town long before realizing anything was wrong.

Police have released a picture of the suspect, who’s wanted for possession of a fraudulent device, and can be seen below:

EAST NEW YORK – After a home invasion robbery earlier this week, police are on the lookout for two suspects—one of whon was caught on video before the deed.

Around 2:30 pm on Monday, July 23, police said the suspects knocked on the door of an East New York apartment, and when the 36-year old female occupant came to the door, they forced their way in. Striking his victim on the head with an unknown object, and flashing a gun, they proceeding to restrain the victim with duct tape, said police.

Inside, the thieves stole an iPhone, an Apple Watch, a Playstation, and about $600 cash before making their escape. Video surveillance of one of the suspects can be seen below:

CROWN HEIGHTS – Police are still looking for the lip-biting bandit that took a bite out of a fellow subway rider in early June.

According to police, the incident occurred on Saturday, June 9, around 10:00 pm in the Utica Avenue 4 train station. The suspect and a 37-year old man got into a physical altercation following a verbal dispute. During the scuffle, the suspect managed to bite off a portion of the victim’s lip, police said.

The cannibal suspect fled to the street, while the victim was taken to Kings County Hospital to be treated, police said. Video surveillance of the attacker can be seen below:
