Water Main Break Impacts Morning Commute
UPDATE 10:30am: The MTA says that normal train service has resumed, with residual delays. Hopefully the evening rush hour is easier than this morning’s!
EARLIER: A Manhattan water main located on 13th Street and 5th Avenue broke around midnight Wednesday morning, flooding Greenwich Village streets, and wreaking havoc on several subway lines, including the B, D, F, and Q. Here’s how lines from our area are running at the moment:
• B trains are running local in both directions, and running on the Q line between Pacific St and 57 St-7 Av.
• Southbound D trains routed via the local track in the Bronx and terminate at 34 St-6 Av. Northbound D trains are either rerouted via the Q from Atlantic Av-Barclays Center to 57 St-7 Av, or are not running in either direction between Atlantic Av-Barclays Center and 34 St-Herald Square.
• Northbound and southbound F trains rerouted to the E from West 4 St to Roosevelt Avenue.
• You should also expect some delays on the Q, and allow additional travel time.
• Additionally, N and Q trains are experiencing delays, and there are changes to the C, D, E, and M which can be found here.
The MTA says that crews are on the scene attempting to clear water from the tracks, but you’ll definitely want to allow additional time to get around this morning. For the latest information and service changes, be sure to visit the MTA website.
How was your commute this morning?
