Volunteers Needed For Kensington Family Shelter’s Spring/Easter Celebration
Local residents are planning a Spring/Easter celebration at the Kensington shelter for homeless families, and they could use a hand.
Community residents are organizing a spring event for the children at the Kensington Family Shelter on the morning of Saturday, March 26th, which will include an Easter egg hunt, crafts, face-painting and treats.
Volunteers are needed on the day of the event. The shelter is also asking for donations of specific items.
“To make this as big a success as our past events like the holiday party and Valentine’s dinner, we need your help,” said Catherine Barufaldi and Tracy Connor, local residents who are coordinating volunteer support for the center.
If you can volunteer between 9am and 12pm on Saturday the 26th, please sign up here.
If you would like to donate an item for the shelter, please order from this wishlist. ***Please select the shipping date that will allow your order to be delivered by March 24th.
Other Donations Not Needed At This Time; Movie Night Volunteers Still Needed
The shelter’s movie night for residents is now the first Friday of the month. The shelter still needs help popping popcorn. If you can help, please sign up here.
The shelter has received all the strollers, potties and diapers it can handle for the moment. THANK YOU to all who gave in the last donation cycle, said Barufaldi and Connor. They are asking that residents please do not bring anything new or used to the shelter, which does not have the storage capacity for it.
Also — volunteers must be 18 and up to help out at the shelter. For the time being, volunteers cannot bring their children. An effort is being made to find ways that kids and teens can participate in the “ongoing outpouring of support for our new neighbors.”
