UPDATED: Pedestrian Hospitalized As Car Flees Hit And Run In Gowanus

Police are searching for a [green medallion taxi and] driver who struck a woman in the Gowanus neighborhood on Saturday night.

The driver fled the scene after hitting a woman who was crossing at the intersection of 3rd Avenue and 7th Street on Saturday, May 21 just before midnight, according to a report by ABC 7 news.

The [taxi] car fled the scene after the incident. Cops report the vehicle they are searching for sustained front end damage. According to the police, as of Monday at 12pm, the taxi and driver have not yet been located.

The female victim was taken to Methodist Hospital and was in stable condition as of Sunday, May 22. She is expected to recover from the accident.

Update, June 28 at 4:45pm: While the report to news outlets initially stated that a green taxi hit the couple, it was revealed that police chose to withhold the actual car make and model during the investigation until the suspect was identified and arrested.
