Upcoming Hours For Sustainable Flatbush & How To Help Them Win Up To $20,000

Sustainable Flatbush has two exciting dates coming up: Tuesday, April 22, when they reopen their Healing Herb Garden for the season, and Monday, April 21, when voting closes for the Seeds of Change grant competition. The neighborhood nonprofit is hoping to win $20,000 in grants from the organization, with which they hope to expand their garden by 200 sq ft, set up more service-learning programs, and offer stipends to gardeners.

If you appreciate all that Sustainable Flatbush does for our community–teaching people where their food comes from, offering internships to Erasmus and other high school students, holding free health and wellness workshops (which they plan to continue in 2014) with Sacred Vibes Apothecary, and participating in various programs to help neighbors in need–make sure to learn more about their mission and vision here. Then do your part by bookmarking Sustainable Flatbush’s Seeds of Change grant page and voting once a day, as well as sharing their page via Facebook and Twitter.

Volunteers interested in gardening this season should also know that starting next Tuesday, Sustainable Flatbush’s Healing Herb Garden (2103 Kenmore Terrace by E 21st Street) will be open daily from noon to 6pm. We’ll keep you posted about more info on upcoming workshops, and if you have any questions, you can reach out to neighbor and organization Director Sheryll Durrant at sheryll@sustainableflatbush.org.
