A chance to add another tall building to 4th Avenue is up for grabs, as a building that had plans approved for a high-rise is now back on the market — and it’s located right next to another forthcoming apartment building.

The two-story carriage house at 573 4th Avenue, between 16th Street and Prospect Avenue, is currently available for $5 million, and the listing notes the property’s approved plans for a nine-story, 10-unit, 11,000-square-foot mixed-use apartment building. Those plans were approved by the Department of Buildings in 2013, following other plans submitted in 2011 for a 10-story space that Brownstoner referred to as a “sliver” of a building. A permit for demolition of the house was issued over the summer.

And because this is how it is along 4th these days, another tall building is headed for the very same block. Just before the end of last year, plans were filed for 581 4th Avenue, on the corner of Prospect Avenue. The proposed 12-story, 129-unit residential building with commercial space on the ground floor will be designed by Karl Fischer, which also did the Landmark Park Slope, 10 blocks away on 4th Avenue. Those plans are still pending with the DOB.
