This spring, there are wonderful cultural events happening at many of our local schools — and everyone is welcome, whether you have school-age children or not. Here are just two events this week.

Outdoor Concert Series at PS 217
Every spring, PS 217 presents concerts in their garden that are free and open to the entire community. This year’s concert series is taking place on Wednesday evenings, from 6 to 7pm.

This week’s concert features maestro Akbar Ghulam Ali performing Ghazal and Geet, utilizing harmonium and vocals, accompanied by Imran Sagar on tabla. All are welcome to this concert to enjoy the music and samosas.

PS 217 is located at 1100 Newkirk Avenue (and Westminster Road). Pack a blanket and picnic dinner, and come socialize with your neighbors.

District 22 Family Fun Night
District 22 Family Fun Night will be this Friday, May 20th, from 5 to 8pm, at the John Malone Community Center, at 2335 Bergen Avenue in Bergen Beach.

(District 22 includes elementary and middle schools from Ditmas Park all the way down to Mill Basin on Jamaica Bay.)

It’s a free event for the whole family, sponsored by Community Education Council 22, District 22 President’s Council, PBS Kids, and Millennium Development. All children must be accompanied by an adult. See the flyer below for more information.
