Two Shot Chasing Down Armed Robbers On McDonald Avenue
A gunman is facing attempted murder charges after shooting two employees during a thwarted robbery at a Borough Park appliance store Tuesday night, and his accomplice in on the lam.
Jeandre Perez, 24, has been charged with two counts of attempted murder, four counts of attempted robbery, two counts of assault, and criminal possession of a firearm, police said.
The robbers stormed Appliance Showroom, located 1208 McDonald Avenue, at 7pm and demanded money, but realized they were messing with the wrong people when the four employees refused to get on the ground.
The four gutsy workers refused the demand and chased the would-be thieves out of the store — then the gun-toting goon wheeled around and opened fire, according to cops.
One worker was struck outside the store, but his colleagues pursued the duo to Dahill Road and 52nd Street, where the gunman shot a second employee, officials said.
One bullet struck a 49-year-old worker in the torso, while another grazed 21-year old employee Ali Mazer’s side. The remaining workers, who are brothers ages 49 and 51, caught up to Perez and pinned him to the ground until cops arrived.
Mazer told Channel 7’s Darla Miles that he and his colleagues were tipped off when two suspicious men scoped out the store earlier that evening.
“I was by myself, they was looking around, I said do you need help? They said no, they went across the street to the bar. I had a feeling something was going to happen but I wasn’t sure. Thirty minutes later, another two guys came in with guns,” he told the reporter.
Both injured men were taken to Lutheran Hospital and are expected to recover.
Police said they discovered a gun on the scene and an investigation is ongoing.
