Turns Out The R Is Good For Something: A Seat!
If you don’t mind putting up with a lot of stops during the morning rush, the R train might be where it’s at — or, at least, where the seats are at.
The reason you’re more likely to get a seat on the R train from Brooklyn to Manhattan, according to MTA stats reported by the New York Post, is that the line is at just 57 percent capacity. The MTA says that with people switching to express trains at 59th and 36th Streets, the likelihood that Slopers will get a seat when getting on at a local stop is actually pretty good — but, if not, at least you’re not facing a jam-packed train.
Also a good bet? The The G train, no surprise, isn’t too crowded during rush hour, running at 61 percent capacity.
Now if only they could get that F train up to snuff…
