Tomorrow: P.S. 229 Parents To Hold Meeting About Reassigned Safety Officer
Due to the snow, a PTA meeting to address the reassignment of a beloved security guard at P.S. 229 Dyker has been rescheduled.
Instead of tonight, the meeting will be held tomorrow, February 4, at 7pm, at the elementary school (1400 Benson Avenue) in the auditorium. School safety officials are expected to be present.
Last week, we reported that families of P.S. 229 were up in arms over the reassignment of their kids’ safety agent of 23 years, Mr. Rogers.
When they inquired about Mr. Rogers’ sudden departure, parents were told it was a personnel issue that it could not be discussed. Parents are upset by the lack transparency on the part of school safety officials, and say no one can replicate the dedication and care Mr. Rogers showed their children.
The public is invited to come out and show their support.
Correction (2pm): A previous version of this article stated that the meeting was on November 3. It is on November 4.
