Ready to start checking items off your summer bucket list? One of our favorite summertime events takes place right in Prospect Park, on Friday, June 19 at 6:30pm, when the New York Philharmonic returns to the Long Meadow Ballfields for a free concert under the stars.

Gather your friends and family, bring a blanket and enjoy one of the world’s greatest orchestras with an awe-inspiring fireworks display to round out the evening that will celebrate the New York Philharmonic’s 50th summer of free outdoor programming.

Charles Dutoit — a conductor known and loved worldwide — will lead the orchestra in Berlioz’s Roman Carnival Overture; Saint-Saëns’s Violin Concerto No. 3, with Renaud Capuçon as the soloist; Stravinsky’s Petrushka (the 1911 version); and Ravel’s La Valse. The Brooklyn Interdenominational Choir will open the night as part of Share the Stage, a program that invites local musicians to play before the Philharmonic performance in their home boroughs.
