TinkerTailor: The Ditmas Park Consignment Shop

Two local moms, Pietta Donovan and Anne Black, have launched TinkerTailor, a non-profit consignment shop. The focus of the project is to build a community sustainability center and retail store “with an emphasis on preserving community knowledge, building bonds between members of the community, and reducing waste and creating more sustainable systems of consumption through re-use and restoration of existing materials.”

The organization was inspired by Repair Cafes in Amsterdam, the Fixer’s Collective in Gowanus Brooklyn, the Brooklyn Brainery, Material for the Arts and other community organizations.

TinkerTailor’s first event takes place on September 28 to 30 at 160 Marlborough Road. Fittingly, the theme of the event is back-to-school and back-to-work.

  • Why consign? Take it out of the waste stream! Help your neighbors find what they need for their families. Find what you need while being more gentle on the environment and your wallet. And bring your ideas for what you want to learn (and teach) at TinkerTailor.
  • We will accept items by appointment as well as during drop-off hours 9AM-12PM Saturday, Sept 8- Tuesday, Sept 11 (See “What We Accept “)
