For the second year in a row, Coney Island is throwing a New Year’s Eve bash to rival the festivities in Times Square. This year’s party will offer free admission to the B&B Carousell and the Abe Stark Skating Rink. Visitors will also be able to ride the Thunderbolt, Wonder Wheel, and enjoy live music, fireworks and food while awaiting the countdown to a digital ball drop on the amusement park’s iconic Parachute Jump, officials announced Thursday.

“Brooklynites don’t need to travel across the river to celebrate New Year’s Eve in style anymore, because Coney Island is the place to be for family-friendly, exciting fun, just as it has been throughout its storied history,” said City Councilman Mark Treyger. “More than 5,000 people gathered at the People’s Playground last year to welcome 2015, and a big crowd is expected again as we say hello to 2016.”

The event kicks off at 9pm and is hosted by Borough President Eric Adams, who is also sponsoring another New Year’s Eve party at Grand Army Plaza.

“This New Year’s Eve, whether you’re a beachgoer or a landlubber, Brooklyn will be the place to be!” Adams said in a press release.
