Transforming Food

What: Got an aspiring chef at home? Bring them to see how treats were made a long time ago in Brooklyn, as they’ll churn butter, grind corn, peel apples — then taste the fruits of their labor with popcorn and apple pie.

Storytime: Toy Meets Snow

What: Authors Emily Jenkins and Paul O. Zelinsky will read their tale about toys who venture outside on a snowy day.

Atlantic Antic

Where: Atlantic Avenue from 4th Avenue to the waterfront, Downtown Brooklyn
What: One of the city’s largest street fairs has all the things you expect — food, rides, games — plus a schedule of music and dance performances that includes entertainment for the kids, not to mention opportunities to check out old vehicles at the transit museum!

Friends Book Sale And Flea Market

Where: Sheepshead Bay Library, 2636 East 14th Street
What: If you have a voracious little reader at home, you’ll want to stock up on all kinds of books — all of which will be priced between $1-$3. Plus, you can feel good about buying a lot, as all of the proceeds will go toward supporting the library.

Halloween Harvest
When: Saturdays & Sundays, September 26-November 1, opens at 12pm
