CENTRAL BROOKLYN

Kids Create: Collage Bookmarks

Where: Clinton Hill Library, 380 Washington Avenue
What: Kids will get crafty with recycled materials to make slim pieces of art that are also useful — they can save their place in all those library books they’re borrowing.

Kids Create: Kids Knit Now!
When: Wednesday, November 4, 4pm
Where: Kensington Library, 4207 18th Avenue
What: It might not feel like it quite yet, but it is in fact November, and a kid who knows how to knit is a kid who can make cool accessories that keep himself and his friends (and his lucky parents) warm all winter.

Creative Writing

What: Kids ages 7-11 will write and share their work with each other, learning confidence — as well as the power of their own stories.

Family Movies @ The Library: Inside Out

What: Bring the kids to enjoy this fun animated film where we get to see the inner emotions — com to life — of an 11-year-old Midwestern girl.

Story Time: Elisha Cooper

Where: Greenlight Bookstore, 686 Fulton Street, Fort Greene
What: NYC-based author and illustrator Elisha Cooper will read his fun, unique alphabet book 8: An Animal Alphabet, featuring his own menagerie of animals.

Alex Mitnick & The Kaleidoscope
When: Saturday, November 7, 1pm
Where: Central Library, Dweck Center, 10 Grand Army Plaza, Park Slope
What: Lots of adventures await in the songs of Emmy award-winning children’s entertainer Alex Mitnick, who will be at the library for a fun concert.

Celebrate Diwali: The Festival Of Lights!
When: Saturday, November 7, 2:30pm
Where: Central Library, Dweck Center, 10 Grand Army Plaza, Park Slope
What: The festival, celebrated in India and throughout the world, is coming up, and families are invited to celebrate at the library, where they’ll be doing an event featuring stories, dancing, crafts.

Story Time: Wolfie The Bunny
When: Sunday, November 8, 11:30am
Where: powerHouse on 8th, 1111 8th Avenue, South Slope
What: Hear the tale of the Bunny family, which has adopted a wolf son — who might eat them all up! — as told by the author of the book, Ame Dyckman.
How Much: Free!

“ROAR” Book Signing And Reading
When: Saturday, November 8, 4pm
Where: Lark Cafe, 1007 Church Avenue, Ditmas Park
What: Which is it cooler to be: a dragon or a little boy? That’s the crux of the issue in this new picture book, whose Brooklyn-based illustrator, Liz Starin, will be on hand to read and sign copies of.

SOUTHERN BROOKLYN

Babies & Books
When: Wednesday, November 4, 11am
Where: Sheepshead Bay Library, 2636 East 14th Street
What: Babies and toddlers from birth to 18 month will, with their parents or caregivers, get a head start on a love of reading with fun games and activities — and they’ll get some great social interaction in, as well.

Chinese Brush Painting For Tweens And Teens
When: Wednesday, November 4, 3:30pm
Where: New Utrecht Library, 1743 86th Street, Bensonhurst
What: A cool opportunity for older kids with an interest in learning new painting techniques to learn from a professional teaching artist.
How Much: Free, but there is limited enrollment; register at the information desk.

Chess Workshop
When: Thursday, November 5, 4pm
Where: Kings Bay Library, 3650 Nostrand Avenue, Sheepshead Bay
What: Got a budding chess master? Kids curious about the game can learn here from an experienced teacher.

Kids Create
When: Friday, November 6, 4pm

What: Creative kids and teens are welcome to hang out and be artistic with new projects.

Build A Veterans Day Jet
When: Saturday, November 7, 9am-12pm
Where: Home Depot, 2970 Cropsey Avenue, Gravesend
What: Children ages 5-12 will get hands-on in this free workshop project, which they’ll be able to take home with them (all workshops are available while supplies last) — and it will give parents an opportunity to start a conversation about the meaning of Veterans Day.

Kids Tech Time: Hollywood Squares
When: Monday, November 9, 4pm
Where: Coney Island Library, 1901 Mermaid Avenue
What: Kids with some trivial knowledge can compete in this game, and possibly win some cool prizes.

Imagination Station
When: Tuesday, November 11, 11am
Where: Sheepshead Bay Library, 2636 East 14th Street
What: Children ages 3 and up will have their imaginations swept away in this program focusing on storytelling and theater games inspired by the book Skippyjon Jones Snow What — plus, they’ll take home their own handmade set of cat or chihuahua ears.
