This Weekend’s Open House Picks

We’ve rounded up some of the more interesting open houses happening in and around Ditmas Park this Sunday. Any thoughts on these places?

CONDOS & CO-OPS

207 Ocean Parkway #2D
List Price: $269,000, $453 maintenance
Size: 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom
Details: This 710 sq ft unit is thankfully situated at the back of 207, so you won’t face too much noise from Ocean Parkway–but the view might leave something to be desired. The building itself has laundry, a garage (with a wait list), and bike storage, plus cats are allowed. Monthly maintenance includes heat, water, and gas–and perhaps most enticing, you’ll be steps away from Tacos El Catrin. Totally worth it?
Open House: Sunday, February 2, 11am-1pm

734 E 5th Street #1R
List Price: $529,000, $335 common charges
Size: 3 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms
Details: This unit in a very… extravagantly designed building features all the contemporary finishes you could want (did construction wrap up yesterday?). Hardwood floors, an updated kitchen with dark cabinetry and stainless appliances, can lighting– this is just the spot for someone who wants a turnkey home for two or three. Besides your private front patio and deeded parking, the listing also mentions a furnished basement. Curious.
Open House: Sunday, February 2, 10am-12pm

HOUSES

616 E 19th Street
List Price: $1,425,000
Size: 6 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms
Details: This classic Victorian on the corner of Foster Avenue in the Fiske Terrace-Midwood Park Historic District (thanks, Fred!) mixes original details with beautiful modern upgrades–look at the grain in those cabinets! The bathroom vanity too! That room of windows! It’s not the most uniformly seamless transition from old to new, but at least some of the work has already been done. Question is, are you ready to dish out another chunk of cash to finish it on top of that asking price?
Open House: Sunday, February 2, 1-3pm

465 Argyle Road
List Price: $1,499,000
Size: 6 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms
Details: This house between Dorchester and Ditmas Avenues is closer to a lot of desirable amenities than the one above, but has one fewer bathroom. Which might not be a big deal, come to think of it, because hopefully you’re never in a situation where more than three people in your house need to use the bathroom at once–but between the WC question, the smaller garden than the home above, and the seeming lack of renovations, you’ll have to consider if the proximity to Cortelyou is worth an extra $74k.
Open House: Sunday, February 2, 1-3pm
