This Weekend’s Open House Picks

We’ve rounded up some of the more interesting open houses happening in and around Ditmas Park on Sunday. Any thoughts on these places?

HOUSES

657 East 24th Street, between Farragut and Glenwood
Price: $980,000, as listed by Mary Kay Gallagher Real Estate
Size: 6 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms
Details: A recent posterchild for an article on how our area is one of the best “suburbs” accessible by subway, this single-family home (pictured above) has great original details (check out the tiles on the entryway fireplace) and a nice little backyard. The kitchen was recently redone, but the bathrooms might need work — though the one pictured has a great stained glass window. Close to Brooklyn College and the Junction, and hey, maybe it’ll be easier to reach via a calmer Flatbush Avenue soon.
Open House: Saturday, September 21, 3:30-4:30pm and Sunday, September 22, 2-3:30pm

604 East 24th Street, at Farragut
Price: $999,000, as listed by Brooklyn Properties
Size: 5+ bedrooms, 4 bathrooms
Details: A 3,415-square-foot single-family house on a corner lot just down the block from the listing above, this has got some pretty lovely details intact, from stained glass windows to the inlaid flooring. The kitchen looks pretty new, though the two bathrooms pictured look like they could use a little updating (though the pink tile and rose sink are probably a draw for some).
Open House: Sunday, September 22, 12-1:30pm

CONDOS & CO-OPS

1710 Avenue H, #C5, at E 18th St
Price: $215,000, $731 maintenance fee, as listed by Abacus Properties
Size: 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom
Details: It might not be the biggest 1-bedroom at 675 square feet (looks like you’re most out of space in the kitchen), but you’ve got enough room for a combined living and dining space. We love the arches and bathrooms in this building, too.
Open House: Sunday, September 22, 12-2pm

616 East 18th Street, #6D, between Newkirk and Foster
Price: $289,000, $776.15 maintenance fee, as listed by Brooklyn Hearth
Size: 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom
Details: Top floor means this 860-square-foot co-op has some nice views for you and your cat (no dogs allowed) to enjoy. We’ve noticed a lot of sales at 616 East 18th, and right now, including this listing, there are three units currently on the market — including #3K, listed by Corcoran, which is also hosting an open house on Sunday. Anyone live there who can comment on the turnover? Are people just upgrading to larger spaces as their families grow, or is it something else?
Open House: Sunday, September 22, 11:30am-1pm

346 Coney Island Avenue, #904, between Kermit and Caton
Price: $549,000, $400 common charges, as listed by Corcoran
Size: 1 bedroom, 2 bathrooms
Details: How many 1-bedrooms in the area have 2 bathrooms? The listing for this condo touts the views of the new World Trade Center tower to the north and the Verrazano Bridge to the west, but in the corner of one photo we can see that you’ll also have a much closer view of the construction of two large buildings back on Caton Place.
Open House: Sunday, September 22, 12-1:30pm
