This Weekend’s Open House Picks

We’ve rounded up some of the more interesting open houses happening in and around Ditmas Park on Sunday. Any thoughts on these places?

CONDOS & CO-OPS

385 E 18th St. #6F
List Price: $375,000, $634.46 common charges, via Brooklyn Hearth
Size: 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom
Details: This unit between Cortelyou and Dorchester is on the top floor of a building with laundry facilities and bike racks, but no mention of an elevator. The parquet floors are pretty, the living/dining area is spacious, and the bedrooms are each decently-sized for someone without a ton of stuff, though there’s storage in the basement for a price if it comes down to it. At a little under 7′ each way, though, the kitchen might be a tight fit.
Open House: Sunday, June 30, 11:30am-1pm

HOUSES

657 E 24th St.
List Price: $980,000, via Mary Kay Gallagher
Size: 6 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms
Details: Aside from the beautful old details like a fireplace in the entryway–and ugh, would you look at those floors–this home near Brooklyn College comes with a two car garage and really pretty yard. Not to say this looks like a serious fixer-upper, but the kitchen and bath shown could use some upgrades, and how do you feel about the wallpaper? When you consider the cost of cosmetic changes to the space, what’s your take on the price?
Open House: Sunday, June 30, 1-3pm

625 E 22nd St.
List Price: $1,425,000, via Corcoran
Size: 7 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms
Details: Like the house above, this comes with a two car garage and is right by the BC campus. It’s situated on an oversized corner lot, which could be a good or bad thing. There are definitely some really cool original details in here, too, even if they are currently upstaged by the baroque decor scheme. The asking price is also nearly 1.5 times that of the property above. Worth it?
Open House: Sunday, June 30, 1:15-2:15pm

32 Midwood St.
List Price: $1,799,000, via Stribling
Size: 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms
Details: This “1909 Limestone beauty” by Axel Headman has got the works–seriously, look at the wood paneling in that basement. It’s in Prospect Lefferts Gardens, which if you’ve been following The Q at Parkside, has its awesome qualities, but has also experienced some violent incidents lately. It sounds like neighbors are stepping up to change all that, though, volunteering as block captains and convening with law enforcement and Brooklyn DA Charles Hynes about what needs to be done to keep the neighborhood safe and enjoyable. Though there may be some growing pains in the area right now, you’d have a stunning home and a supportive, active community. How much is that worth?
Open House: Sunday, June 30, 1-2:30pm
