This Weekend’s Open House Picks

10 Slocum Pl, PH1, via Warren Lewis

In the market for a new place to live in the area? Check out these co-ops and condos that are hosting open houses this weekend. If you currently live in one of these buildings, do let your prospective neighbors know what you like (or don’t like) about living there!

10 Slocum Place, Penthouse 1
List Price: $695,000, $341 common charges, via Warren Lewis Sotheby’s
Size: 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms
Details: Is this the first resale in this condo, which first started selling units in the summer of 2010? If so, and if this unit (pictured above) is the same P1 unit that sold then for $534,581, then the market is doing alright, at least as far as the realtors see it. Do you potential buyers agree? But wait, you want to know what you get for that price? Okay: a jacuzzi tub, central heat and air, a walk-in closet currently used as a music room, your own deeded parking spot, and by god even a temperature-controlled bidet.
Open House: Sunday, March 3, 1-2:30pm

715 Ocean Parkway, Apt 5D
List Price: $425,000, maintenance not listed, via Superior Realty
Size: 3 bedrooms, 1.5 bathrooms
Details: This place is huge at 1,385 square feet — about 240 square feet larger than the Slocum Pl condo. For getting around, you’re about halfway between the F at 18th Ave and the B/Q at Newkirk Plaza, and you’ll have to find on-street parking, since there’s a waiting list for the garage.
Open House: Sunday, March 3, 3-5pm

800 Cortelyou Road, Apt 4F
List Price: $325,000, $620.85 maintenance, via Brooklyn Hearth
Size: 1.5 bedrooms, 1 bathroom
Details: If you’ve got a new baby and a dog, this might be just the place for you. One of the few dog-friendly co-ops in the area, this apartment has a bonus room (not technically a bedroom, because it doesn’t have a window) that would work as a nursery or a home office. The kitchen was redone to include a big pass-through to the living room, which makes it feel a little less cramped. Unfortunately, you’ll have to walk that dog and stroller across the CIA/Cortelyou intersection to get to shopping and the subway. But if you want to drive to the supermarket, there is parking available for $160/month (is that about standard for co-ops in the area?).
Open House: Sunday, March 3, 12-1:30pm

275 Webster Avenue, Apt 1F
List Price: $179,000, $648 maintenance, via Brown Harris Stevens
Size: 1 bedrooms, 1 bathroom
Details: Though it’s Apt 1F, this unit is apparently on the second floor, and it overlooks a common area in the back of the building — wonder how noisy that gets if neighbors are enjoying the space in the summer. If you like doing your own entertaining, the living room opens with a dining area that could fit a table, and has a pass-through to the kitchen.
Open House: Sunday, March 3, 12-2pm

616 E 18th Street, Apt 3K
List Price: $150,000, $550 maintenance, via Corcoran
Size: studio, 1 bathroom
Details: Our favorite thing about this listing is that they promote your proximity to the little post office on Newkirk and E 16th. Don’t get us wrong, we love that post office, but when has that ever been a selling-point in a house hunt? Well, if you’re selling a lot on the internet and shipping it and don’t need much space to store it, this 550-square-foot studio, which has an L-shape to help create an impression of room separation, is waiting for you.
Open House: Sunday, March 3, 12:30-1:30pm
