This Weekend’s Fort Greene-Clinton Hill Open House Picks

We’ve rounded up some of the more interesting condo and co-op open houses happening around Fort Greene and Clinton Hill this weekend. Any thoughts on these places?

147 S Oxford Street #3A
List Price: $699,000, $701 common charges
Size: Two bedrooms, one bathroom
Details: The bedrooms in this squeaky clean unit aren’t huge, but the combination of closet space, an open plan kitchen/living dining area, and a location made for going out can make up for that, right? Beyond the fresh upgrades and sun from three sides, this place is pet-friendly, dishwasher equipped, and has in building laundry, too–plus you’ll be steps from prime Fort Greene shopping, dining, and transportation.
Open House: Sunday, October 5, 12-1pm

163 Taaffee Place #3
List Price: $895,000, $200 maintenance
Size: Three(ish) bedrooms, two bathrooms
Details: Just east of Pratt, this nearly 1,200 sq ft condo offers custom finishes, master and guest baths, a terrace, an open kitchen/dining area, and a space currently used as an office, but with potential as a third bedroom. Depending on your view regarding Myrtle construction and a forthcoming Pratt complex, the location could be seen either as one where there will soon be even more amenities than there are now–or as a possible headache of nonstop development.
Open House: Sunday, October 5, 1:30-3pm

34 Monroe Street
List Price: $1,295,000
Size: Seven bedrooms, three bathrooms
Details: Every once in a while, we’ll blur the Classon Avenue neighborhood divide–and this home seems like a great excuse to do so! We’ve watched it sit on the market for a while now, but especially considering a recent $200,000 price drop (and considering the only Fort Greene open house we spotted around the $1.3 million mark this week was a two bed condo), this is a relative bargain. The garden level could use a bit of cosmetic work at the very least–but as the building is currently split into two units, a tenant could help balance out renovation costs.
Open House: Sunday, October 5, 12-1pm

73 Carlton Avenue
List Price: $1,900,000
Size: Six bedrooms, three bathrooms
Details: Now here’s a home that needs no renovating! Sleek and shiny with details like beamed ceilings, fresh flooring, exposed brick mantels, and skylights, this house between Park and Myrtle is stunningly gorgeous. The listing says it’s a three family home, too–so as with the space above, you could get some help on your mortgage from some very lucky tenants. On the downside, it’s not terribly close to any subways, and its proximity to the BQE might not make it the quietest of settings–but if neither of those is a particular problem for you, stop in and have a gander.
Open House: Sunday, October 5, 12:30-2pm
