This Weekend’s F & G Subway Changes

This Weekend’s F & G Subway Changes
F train sunset

Here’s to hoping the subways this weekend won’t be as bad as the F train debacle this morning, but there are a number of things that you’ll have to look out for this weekend on the F and the G. Details via the MTA:

Starting Thursday:

F trains run every 20 minutes between Avenue X and Stillwell Avenue; trains from Manhattan skip Avenue U
Days, 10:30am to 3pm, Wednesday to Friday, until November 7
Service operates in two sections: one, between 179 Street and Avenue X and two, between Avenue X and Stillwell Avenue. Transfer at Avenue X to continue your trip. For service to Avenue U, take the F to Avenue X, where it will become a Jamaica-bound F. For service from this station, take the F to Kings Highway and transfer to an Avenue X-bound F.
No G trains between Hoyt-Schermerhorn Streets and Church Avenue; A & F trains provide alternate service
Late nights, 11:30pm to 5am, Monday to Friday, until October 31
No G service at Bergen Street, Carroll Street, Smith-9 Street, 4 Avenue-9 Street, 7 Avenue, 15 Street-Prospect Park, Fort Hamilton Parkway, and Church Avenue. Take the F instead. Transfer between the A and G trains at Hoyt-Schermerhorn Streets. Transfer between the A and F trains at Jay Street-MetroTech. G service will operate in two sections: one, between Court Square and Bedford-Nostrand Avenue and two, between Bedford-Nostrand Avenues and Hoyt-Schermerhorn Streets. Transfer at Bedford-Nostrand Avenues to continue your trip.

Starting Friday:

Jamaica-bound F trains run via the A from Jay Street-MetroTech to West 4th Street
Weekend, 11:45pm Friday to 5am Monday, October 31-November 3
No Jamaica-bound service at York Street, East Broadway, Delancey Street, 2 Avenue, and Broadway-Lafayette Street. Travel alternatives: for York Street, use the High Street A/C station instead. For service to East Broadway, Delancey Street, and 2 Avenue, take the F to West 4th and transfer to a Coney Island-bound F. For service from these stations, take the F to Jay Street-MetroTech and transfer to a Jamaica-bound F. For service to Broadway-Lafayette, take the F to West 4th Street and transfer to a Coney Island-bound F or D. For service from this station, take the D instead. Transfer to the F at West 4th.

Starting Saturday:

G service operates every 20 minutes between Bedford-Nostrand Avenues and Court Square
Weekend, 5am to 12 midnight, Saturday and Sunday, November 1-2
The last stop for alternate trains from Church Avenue is Bedford-Nostrand Avenues.

Remember, unscheduled changes can happen (and we all know they probably will), so be sure to check the MTA’s website before heading out. Or while you’re sitting on the F train, wondering if you’ll ever see above ground again.
