This Week in Ditmas Park

What a week. To keep up with all this news from the neighborhood, like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter and subscribe to our daily newsletter. If you’ve got a story idea, a question, a complaint, anything, send us an email at ditmasparkcorner@gmail.com.

Here’s a recap of the past week:

• Two young neighbors were killed during the storm. We looked back at Jessie and Jacob’s life and offered ways to donate to charity in their name. Lark held a concert in their memory.

• We followed closely Sandy in the morning, afternoon and early evening. Then the peak of the storm hit.

• Salahi bodega hasn’t closed in 20 years — Sandy didn’t change that.

• Lots of worrisome moments, including a burning smell around the neighborhood.

• We mapped the damage from Sandy.

• We followed the Sandy clean up from the beginning to the latest development — the Q is back.

• Neighbors wanted to to help those in need and we’ve been working to list all available options through the week.

• It’s been a year since Josh Rubin was killed.

• Glenwood Road hosted its annual Halloween parade and we were there.

Gas shortages have been hitting the region hard.

• We asked if the Marathon should go on. You answered and then it was cancelled.

• Will another storm hit next week?

• The run to restore Prospect Park attracted a lot of neighbors.
