This Week in Ditmas Park

Keep up with neighborhood news all week: Facebook, Twitter, daily newsletter, and feel free to email us at ditmasparkcorner@gmail.com.

In case you missed anything this week, here’s a recap:

• It’s sadly been a very busy week for crime. A young man died after being stabbed in the torso at the Parade Ground, another bank robbery, Picket Fence was burglarized, another home burglary, and a couple of arrests.

• The much anticipated Lark finally opened on Church Avenue.

• How many delivery and takeout recommendations have you tried so far?

• A Silver Alert for neighbor Marie Dalce.

• There was a fire at a house under construction on Rugby Road.

• A house on Westminster Road appeared on the TV show Louie.

• Will we finally see new tenants in Solo and Vox Pop?

• Also in real estate: new pharmacy on CIA, Lahori Gyro King replaced by Sahara Grill, Carmen 2002 moved down Cortelyou, and MetroPCS in Newkirk Plaza.

Kittens were spotted inside of the old Solo space. Anyone seen them since?

• Storefront improvements are going on along Newkirk Avenue.

Lots of love for the taco truck that’s sporadically on Cortelyou.

• Two signs are down, but CB14 and the DOT are on it.

• Know your flowering shrubs–the rose of Sharon just started blooming.

• Some trees that need pruning, even if the city doesn’t think so.

• How long before more fire hydrants are painted in the neighborhood?

• Take a walk today to check out our Greenest Block semifinalists.

• Found in a garage on Stratford: 1914 certificate allowing 1 auto to be kept on the premises.

• Qathra was named one of the top 30 cafes in NYC!

• Finally, if you missed Liz Starin’s first illustrated piece of the month, go check it out right away!
