This May 17, Bike The Branches & Enjoy Butterflies, Bulbs & Bookmarks
Ready to Bike the Branches this year? Now in its second year, the borough-wide bike ride lets you discover parts of Brooklyn you may not have seen before, while supporting the Brooklyn Public Library.
The ride takes place on Saturday, May 17, with a route that features Brooklyn history, breweries, live music, storytimes from local authors, and more. Get your Branch Passport stamped at as many branches as you can visit between 10am-5pm, then end the day at the Central Library’s Finish Line Celebration from 5-7pm, where they’ll have prizes for adults and children who visit the most branches.
You can set your own pace and follow one of the suggested routes, or create one yourself and explore the network of 60 neighborhood libraries. And it’s not just for cyclists — walkers and runners are welcome, too.
In our neck of the woods, the Cortelyou Library Friends will once again be throwing a Butterflies, Bulbs, and Bookmarks bash on the library plaza (corner of Cortelyou and Argyle Roads) from 2-5pm, featuring food and fun activities for all.
Registration for Bike the Branches is $20 for adults, $10 for seniors and children under 17, $40 for a family of up to 2 adults and 3 children, and $150 for a team of up to 10 people. All proceeds will benefit the Brooklyn Public Library. Set Cortelyou as your local branch, and enjoy the day!
