This Holiday Weekend’s F & G Subway Changes

Happy Fourth of July weekend travels! As you pack up your picnic basket and beach blanket and set out for sun and sand – or hopefully somewhere with cool water, remember if you’re using public transportation that trains and buses will be

operating on a Saturday schedule 

on Friday, July 4.

Also, the LIRR and Metro-North will provide additional early-afternoon service from Manhattan today, July 3, for  those of you who want to get an early start to your Independence Day weekend, with 17 extra trains departing Grand Central Terminal between 12pm and 4pm today. Another eight extra trains will depart from Penn Station between 2pm and 4 pm.

As for subway, we’ve listed the scheduled changes below. Details via the MTA:

Starting Friday:

Jamaica-bound F trains runs via the M train from 47-50 Streets to Roosevelt Avenue.
Weekends, 9:45pm Friday to 5am Monday, until July 14
No Jamaica-bound service at 57th Street, Lexington Avenue/63rd Street, Roosevelt Island, and 21st Street-Queensbridge.

Starting Saturday:

G train service operates every 20 minutes between Court Square and Bedford-Nostrand Avenues.
Weekend, 5am to 12 midnight, Saturday and Sunday, until July 13
The last stop for alternate trains from Church Avenue is Bedford-Nostrand Avenues.
