About Kensington

Known for its cultural diversity, Kensington is home to folks from more than 15 countries. Approximately 53,000 residents are housed over 107 square blocks and regardless where you are, you can feel a strong sense of community. Residents here are genuinely invested in this neighborhood. Kensington borders Prospect Park, Ditmas Park, Windsor Terrace, Midwood, and Borough Park.

Why Move to Kensington?

If you are trying to stay close to the city for an easy commute, Kensington is the last affordable community you are going to find, which makes it attractive for young professionals, small families, retirees, and everyone else who appreciates convenience without an overly inflated price tag.

One family Victorians and brick row-houses dominate the housing market here, but there are also a ton of pre-war brick apartments on Coney Island Avenue and Ocean Parkway, including many co-ops.

Kensington is served by F and G subway lines. There are also several bus lines, including four express busses to Manhattan.

Kensington Moving Tips

With the prevalence of high-rise buildings on Ocean Parkway, the importance of reserving the service elevation cannot be stressed enough. You may need to coordinate this with the loading lock, as well. Otherwise, parking will be a concern elsewhere. You might need a parking permit to park on a busy street during business hours.

With more than 20 languages spoken in this unique neighborhood it is not a bad idea to pick up a few language books, and learn some basic words in as many languages as you can.
