Book Sale Donation Collection

Where: Clinton Hill Library at 380 Washington Avenue
What: The Friends of Clinton Hill will be holding their next Book Sale on Saturday, April 16th in conjunction with the ASPCA Adoption Van. Donations of books and CD’s in good condition will be accepted during library hours ONLY from Tuesday, January 12th through Friday, April 8th.

Show and Tell Photos Of Your Clinton Hill Neighborhood

Where: Clinton Hill Library at 380 Washington Avenue
What: Bring a picture and your written short caption/short story that tells the story of your Clinton Hill neighborhood. It can be a picture of a person or persons, a place, a thing, a picturesque memory. All photographic short stories/captions & pictures will be displayed in the Clinton Hill Library for you and your neighbors to see for the month of September 2015. What: on’t miss this special children’s concert by music and movement specialist Suzi Shelton! This energetic mother of two brings families to their feet singing and dancing along to her original tunes, and is a true favorite.

Slavic Soul Party
When: Friday, February 19 at 7:30pm
Where: BRIC House Ballroom at 647 Fulton Street
What: Nine-member Balkan funk band Slavic Soul Party! delivers “some of the most danceable Balkan-flavored pop this side of the Adriatic” (Global Rhythm). A fiery mix of Balkan brass, accordion, virtuosic jazz, and pulsing grooves, SlavicSoul Party! is influenced by its members’ Eastern European, Mexican, and Asian roots, as well as American jazz and soul. This concert will also feature new works inspired by the song “Somewhere” from West Side Story and written by young people in the Brooklyn community in collaboration with Slavic Soul Party! as part of The Somewhere Project, a citywide creative learning project that honors Carnegie Hall’s 125th anniversary.

Colonial Day at Fort Putnam

Where: Fort Greene Park Visitors Center’s outdoor “Fort Putnam” program area
What: Celebrate George Washington’s birthday and travel back 240 years in time. Join us for a day of colonial cooking: breaking making, apple cobbler baking, spit cooking, and Dutch oven cooking; colonial games; re-enactments; and visit a Revolutionary War officer’s tent or take a picture on an 18th century wagon.

Story Time at Greenlight: “Go, Little Green Truck!”

What: Ready, set, go! Little Green is ready to rumble. He is a happy, busy little pickup truck who loves helping out on the farm. Until…he wakes up one morning to find a big new blue truck ready to take his place. But can Big Blue take on all the jobs? Even the small and gentle ones? Greenlight welcomes local author Roni Schotter to present this sweet story about an old pickup truck who finds a new life after being replaced on a farm, sure to be a hit with Story Time audiences. Tennis Court Clean-up

What: If you’ve gone by the courts since the rainstorm earlier this week, you probably saw that they were hit pretty hard by the storm. If you can, please come out during the day to help with cleanup and windscreen repairs. Make sure to wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty because it will get dirty out there.

Shape Up NYC! Aerobics

Brooklyn Rezound community interviews with The Commons Choir

What: Add your voice to the BROOKLYN REZOUND project by participating in a half-hour interview with The Commons Choir. Why did you come to Brooklyn? Your words and gestures will help build a glossary of terms that form the foundation from which a performance will grow.

What: The Chelsea Symphony presents their annual educational children’s concert. Enjoy an instrument petting zoo, bird whistle workshop, paw print sleuthing, animal origami, performances from Music School students, and the World Premiere of TCS violist and composer Seth Bedford’s piece Ballet of the Rubber Ducks. 
Workshops begin at 1:30pm and the concert begins at 2pm.
