Ronald K Brown/Evidence: A Dance Company
When: Friday, November 13 at 8pm
Where: BRIC House Ballroom at 647 Fulton Street
What: Ronald K. Brown Evidence, A Dance Company continues their 30th Anniversary celebrations with an exciting mix of Brown’s works from across the decades, highlighting his Brooklyn community and collaborators. Two different programs feature works including Water(1999), with text written and performed by poet Cheryl Boyce Taylor; 2 Year Old Gentlemen (2008) with music performed live by Rasaan “Talu” Green; Walking Out the Dark (2001), including music by artistPhilip Hamilton, and Why You Follow/Por Que Sigues (2014), a piece originally created for Cuba’s Malpaso Dance Company, now performed by the company. This performance will be followed by a post-show conversation withRonald K. Brown and Cheryl Boyce Taylor, moderated by Eva Yaa Asantewaa.

BAMCafe Live: God’s Unruly Friends
When: Friday, November 13 at 10pm
Where: BAM Peter Jay Sharp Building at 30 Lafayette Avenue
What: Master multi-instrumentalist Dawoud (formerly of Renegade Sufi) leads this adventurous sitar-based ensemble, which expands upon classical raga with otherworldly electronics, hypnotic pedal loops, and free jazz improvisation. Dawoud—who has performed and recorded with artists like Lauryn Hill, James Blood Ulmer, and Nona Hendryx—moves between sitar, dilruba, guitar, bass, laptop, and more to create deep, trancelike grooves and subtly psychedelic soundscapes.

International Passive House Tour
When: Saturday, November 14 from 10am-12pm
Where: 40 Cambridge Place
What: Tour a house! A number of properties within Fort Greene and Clinton Hill will be open to those interested in finding out more including our own – 40 Cambridge Place. The house is currently under construction so this is a great opportunity to see “under the hood” before the walls are closed up, but please dress appropriately and be prepared to sign a waiver.

BAMCafe Live: REBELLUM – Burnt Sugar Arkestra’s Avant Splinter Cell

What: An offshoot of the legendary Burnt Sugar Arkestra—once described by Robert Christgau as “electric Miles with soul, ‘Maggot’ with a Ph.D., the Hendrix-Evans band of dreams&rdquol—REBELLUM is boundary-pushing jazz-funk at its most enlightened and experimental. Led by visionary composer, conductor, and Black Rock Coalition co-founder Greg Tate, REBELLUM delivers offbeat soul harmonies, swinging horn lines, and Hendrix-meets-Funkadelic guitar solos.

El Gran Tour: Experiencing Puerto Rican Visual Artists’ Works and Spaces
When: Sunday, November 15 from 9am-4:30pm
Where: BRIC House at 647 Fulton Street
What: Begin the day at The Metropolitan Museum of Art for a light breakfast and become acquainted with the significance of Puerto Rican art within New York City. Afterwards, prepare to explore the various themed exhibitions throughout historic neighborhoods which foster and celebrate Puerto Rican art and heritage. Each attendee will learn more about Boricua artwork currently featured in a spectrum of cultural centers, galleries, and museums throughout Manhattan and the Bronx.

What: Bring a picture and your written short caption/short story that tells the story of your Clinton Hill neighborhood. It can be a picture of a person or persons, a place, a thing, a picturesque memory. All photographic short stories/captions & pictures will be displayed in the Clinton Hill Library for you and your neighbors to see for the month of September 2015.
