The Untold Story Of Emmett Till
When: Friday, August 28 from 2-4:30pm
Where: Bedford Library at 496 Franklin Avenue
What: In partnership with the Emmett Till Project, BPL presents The Untold Story of Emmett Louis Till on the 60th Anniversary of Till’s murder. This riveting documentary, directed by Keith Beauchamp, tells the harrowing story of what happened when a mischievous 14 year old black boy from Chicago, visiting his relatives in Mississippi, whistled at a white woman in the street.The lynching that followed was so gruesome that a media circus surrounded the trial–and what stunned the nation was not only the crime, but the blithe unconcern the citizens of a small Mississippi town felt toward the brutal murder of a black teenager.

What: To celebrate the beginning of the fall, and the entrance of the second class into the new Pratt MFA in Writing program, we’re having a reading and party with Carla Harryman and other special guests. It’s going to be at the Belladonna* and Litmus Press studio space, and it’ll be a really cool literary evening.

Where: Clinton Hill Library at 380 Washington Avenue
What: Bring a picture and your written short caption/short story that tells the story of your Clinton Hill neighborhood. It can be a picture of a person or persons, a place, a thing, a picturesque memory. All photographic short stories/captions & pictures will be displayed in the Clinton Hill Library for you and your neighbors to see for the month of September 2015.
