Book Sale Donation Collection
When: Through Friday, April 8
Where: Clinton Hill Library at 380 Washington Avenue
What: The Friends of Clinton Hill will be holding their next Book Sale on Saturday, April 16th in conjunction with the ASPCA Adoption Van. Donations of books and CD’s in good condition will be accepted during library hours ONLY from Tuesday, January 12th through Friday, April 8th.

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 1

English Conversation Group
When: Monday, February 1 at 3pm
Where: Walt Whitman Library at 93 Saint Edwards Street
What: Join other adults who are learning to speak English.  No registration required.  Fun and Free!

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 2

Story Time with First RIF
When:  Tuesday, February 2 at 11am
Where: Walt Whitman Library at 93 Saint Edwards Street
What: Hear stories, sing songs and play with other children.  Ages 0-5.

Toddler Time with RIF
When:  Tuesday, February 2 at 11am
Where: Bedford Library at 496 Franklin Avenue
What: The more you read, sing and talk with toddlers, the more they learn! Have fun hearing great picture books read aloud and playing with other children during this program dedicated to active toddlers. (18 – 36 months)

Free Movie: “Woodlawn”
When: Tuesday, February 2 at 1:45pm
Where: Clinton Hill Library at 380 Washington Avenue
What: In 1973, a spiritual awakening captured the heart of nearly every player on the Woodlawn High School football team. Their dedication to love and unity, in a newly desegregated school filled with racism and hate, leads to the largest high school football game ever played in the torn city of Birmingham, Alabama, and the rise of superstar, Tony Nathan.

Zumba Class
When: Tuesday, February 2 at 6:30 pm
Where: Clinton Hill Library at 380 Washington Avenue
What: Classes are on Tuesday evenings starting on January 5th and running through February 23rd. Have fun and meet new people while fulfilling your New Year fitness resolutions. Our free Zumba classes are taught by certified Zumba instructor Arturo Perez.

Resume/Career Writing

What: Free drop-in resume assistance: No appointment necessary. Bring your resume with you or ask for help creating one. Brush up on your interviewing techniques. Asisstance with LinkedIn and other social media accounts.

Book Launch: Sari Wilson presents Girl Through Glass
When: Wednesday, February 3 at 7:30pm

What: In her debut novel Girl Through Glass, Pushcart Prize-nominated author and former dancer Sari Wilson draws us into the complex world of a gifted 11-year old ballet dancer, striving for greatness in the days when the legendary George Balanchine hand-picked tomorrow’s stars. A story of New York City in the 1970s and the present, Wilson’s novel evokes the beauty and pain of a demanding and compelling art form. Wilson talks about her novel and the world of dance with acclaimed dance writer and translator Marina Harss, followed by a wine reception to celebrate the book launch.

Theatre: “To Protect, Serve, and Understand”

What: An extraordinary cast of NYPD officers and civilians have spent the last two months improvising together,
sharing their stories, and stepping into each others’ shoes. Please join us for the inspiring theatrical performance they have created.

BLACK ARTSTORY MONTH KICKOFF

What: *Space is limited/ RSVP Required — A Night of Performance, Engagement & Art featuring gospel group Manifest, Sophia Dawson and her Roller Skating Crew, Victorious Dance Company, live painting by Ashton Agbomenou, art-making workshops with SONYA (South of the Navy Yard Artists) and more. Taking inspiration from the community gatherings of organizers during the Civil Rights Movement and experimental art Happenings, the night is equal parts artistic expression and community building.
