This weekend in Southern Brooklyn, it is all about the performing arts: music, dance, and theater. From an amateur opera concert at the Sheepshead Bay Library, to a Spanglish coming-of-age drama in Bath Beach, to Edward R. Murrow High School’s interpretive dance performance on the stages of life, there is something artsy fartsy for everyone.

You Are Confused! One-Man Show
When: Thursday, June 11 –  Sunday, June 14, 7:30pm
Where: Harry Warren Theatre, 2445 Bath Avenue
What: You Are Confused! is coming-of-age story performed in English and Spanish by Eduardo Leanez. The main character, Yoel, is a hyper-active kid with a passion for boy bands, soap operas, fashion shows, action heroes, and Olympic athletes. His greatest role model, and his toughest critic, is his mother. Fiercely devoted to her son, she is also blind to his gifts and his burgeoning sexuality. You Are Confused! takes you on a fast-moving trip through Yoel’s childhood in Caracas to his young-adulthood in New York as he battles the bullies within, the bullies at home, and the bullies out there in the world.

The Solstice Smash Show In Bay Ridge
When: Friday, June 12, 8pm

“Frank Sinatra” Visits Brooklyn

Rising Star: Songs Of Joy and Love
When: Saturday, June 13, 2pm – 3:15pm
Where: Sheepshead Bay Library, 2636 East 14th Street
What: As part of the library’s Rising Stars series, Sofia Gershengorn will sing classical Italian, French, and popular Broadway songs. She will be accompanied by the globally known Tatyana Zhuk, a vocal coach and piano instructor.

Edward R. Murrow High School’s Dance Syncopation
When: Saturday, June 13, 2pm
Where: Joseph Anzalone Theater, Edward R. Murrow High School, 1600 Avenue L
What: Edward R. Murrow High School students will present their annual syncopated dance performance, choreographed by students in the school’s Dance MILE class. Students will present pieces representing diverse genres and forms of dance and movement, including elements of physical theater, the roots of which coalesce with modern dance. This year’s theme explores the stages of a person’s life — from toddler to adolescence, through adulthood, and arriving at the golden years.

Bensonhurst Greenmarket
When: Sunday, June 14, 9am – 4pm
Where: Milestone Park, 18th Avenue, between 81st and 82nd Street.
What: The award-winning farmers’ market is back! Lookout for free cooking demonstrations and delicious, organic, farm-fresh produce all day. The market will be open in the 18th Avenue park every Sunday until November 22.

Sheepshead Bay Courts Resiliency Planning Meeting
When: Monday, June 15, 7pm
Where: Waterford on the Bay, 2900 Bragg Street, near Emmons Avenue
What: New York City’s Department of Housing Recovery and Councilman Chaim Deutsch are co-hosting a meeting to discuss future planning for the Sheepshead Bay Courts following Superstorm Sandy. Officials and city planners will discuss proposals for a community wide re-configuration of the bungalow courts, potentially to elevate entire blocks using Build it Back funds.
