Things To Do In Southern Brooklyn This Weekend: Fleas, Festivals & Farmers’ Markets
Southern Brooklyn’s street fairs are back in full force this weekend. From Celebrate Israel on Nostrand Avenue, to the beloved 86th Street Festival in Bensonhurst, to Saint Philip’s fundraising flea market in Dyker Heights, there is something for everyone in every neighborhood. We are expecting clear, sunny skies with temperatures in the high 70s — which are sure to bring out the crowds.

Seashell Fantasy Crafts Exhibition
When: Friday, June 5, 10am – 6pm
Where: Homecrest Library, 2525 Coney Island Avenue
What: Artist Regina Auerbach exhibits her seashell fantasy crafts.

Flea Market at Saint Philip’s
When: Saturday, June 6, 10am – 3pm
Where: Saint Philip’s Episcopal Church,1072 80th Street
What: This fundraising flea market will sell delicious baked goods, snacks, and used household items. It will also feature a booth from Animal Care and Control to help with all pet-related needs and queries.

Georgian and Ukrainian Dance On Brighton Boardwalk
When: Saturday, June 6, 2pm – 5pm
Where: Riegelmann Boardwalk, near 4th Avenue
What: Time to put on your dancing shoes! This event will feature free performances and workshops on the boardwalk from Dancing Crane, a Georgian dance, music, and theater company. Traditional Ukrainian and Georgian dances will be taught and performed by Roman Lewkowicz, and accompanied by live music.

Holocaust Memorial Gathering
When: Sunday, June 7, at 12pm
Where: Holocaust Memorial Park, between Emmons Avenue and Shore Boulevard
What: To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the creation of Sheepshead Bay’s holocaust memorial, attendees will be greeted by community leaders, meet the student winners of a Holocaust essay contest, as well as holocaust survivors who live in the neighborhood. The event will include musical performances by a children’s choir and a candle lighting ceremony.

Bensonhurst Greenmarket Returns
When: Sunday, June 7, 9am – 4pm
Where: Milestone Park, 18th Avenue, between 81st and 82nd Street.
What: The award-winning farmers’ market is back! Lookout for free cooking demonstrations and delicious, organic, farm-fresh produce all day. The market will be open in the 18th Avenue park every Sunday until November 22.

Bensonhurst’s 86th Street Festival
When: Sunday, June 7, 11am – 5pm
Where: 86th Street, between Bay Parkway and 19th Avenue
What: Bensonhurst’s annual street fair is returning this Sunday, for a day of delicious food, live music, thrift shopping, kids activities, rides, and more.

Lena Cymbrowitz Community Health Fair
When: Sunday, June 7, 11:30am – 2:30pm
Where: Emmons Avenue, between East 15th Street and Ocean Avenue
What: Free screenings, giveaways, and health-related information will be available at the 12th Annual Lena Cymbrowitz Community Health Fair. The fair raises funds for Dynamic Youth Community. Students from P.S. 255 and Bay Academy be performing. In the case of rain, the fair will be held at Bay Academy, 1401 Emmons Avenue.

Celebrate Israel On Nostrand Avenue

Where: Kings Bay Y, 3495 Nostrand Avenue, between Avenue U and Avenue V
What: Celebrate Israel at the largest outdoor festival in Brooklyn! This year there will be a petting zoo, inflatable rides, live music, vendors, arts and crafts, and more.
