An Intimate Evening of Traditional Trance Music
When: Friday, October 23, 7pm
Where: Church Avenue Yoga & Bodywork Center, 338 E. 5th Street
What: Gnawa music is a rich repertoire of spiritual healing songs and rhythms. Its well-preserved heritage combines ritual poetry with traditional music and dancing. Gnawa music is performed in a “Lila,” an entire night of celebration, dedicated to healing and trance guided by the Maalem and his group.
How much: $15 advance/$20 at the door.

Halloween Haunted Walk and Fair

What: This cherished annual event brings thousands of families to Prospect Park’s Lookout Hill and Nethermead for an afternoon of ghoulish fun that is free and open to the public.

Halloween In Prospect Park
When: Saturday and Sunday, 1-4:30pm
Where: Prospect Park
What: Enjoy family-friendly programming at the Prospect Park Audubon Center, Lefferts Historic House, 1912 Carousel and Prospect Park Zoo, including a Creepy Crawly Walk, Scary Stories with Tammy Hall, and Boo at the Zoo.

Broadway Comes To Brooklyn
When: Saturday, October 24, 7:30pm
Where: PS 217, 1100 Newkirk Avenue
What: Come hear neighborhood native and former “Wonderama” host Sonny Fox share his stories and personal recollections about some of the great composers and lyricists of the 20th century and the familiar Broadway songs or film scores that they created. Proceeds benefit the Friends of PS 217.
