Things To Do In Ditmas Park This Weekend

There’s much happening around our neighborhood this weekend, including compost hours at Compost for Brooklyn, live music at Bar Chord and Lark Café, free yoga at the Cortelyou Library, and more:

Thursday, November 6

• Join the Family of Light Holistic Center for meditation classes, 6:30-7:30pm.
• Practice yoga at the Family of Light Holistic Center, 7:30-9pm.
The Strung Out String Band performs their old timey Appalachian goodness at Bar Chord, 9pm.

Friday, November 7

• Join the drop-in sing-alongs with Lloyd H. Miller at Lark Café, 10 & 11am.
• Adults are invited to the computer class at the Cortelyou Library, 11am.
• Come to Prospect Park’s Audubon Center for a free cardio toning class, 12pm.
• Meet fellow moms and dads at the New Parent Meet-Up, Lark, 1pm.
• Kids can attend Blooming Naturalists  at the Prospect Park’s Audubon Center, 1-2pm Thursdays and Fridays.
• … followed by Nature on the Go, also at the Audubon Center, 2-3pm Thursdays and Fridays.
• Boys and girls ages 8 and up are invited to the creative writing group at the Cortelyou Library, 2:45-3:45pm.
• Learn about local wildlife at Animal Encounter, also at the Audubon Center, 3-4pm Thursdays and Fridays.
Happy hour with babies and ice cream happy hour are at Lark, 4pm.
• Drop-in sing-along with Andrew of Rolie Polie Guacamole at Lark Cafe ($10 per family), 4pm.

• Join the Family of Light Holistic Center for meditation classes, 6:30-7:30pm.
• Get your heart rate up and explore the neighborhood with Ditmas Rides, meeting in front of the Cortelyou Library at 7pm.
• Looking for a fun & safe environment for your child while you do your shopping, go out to dinner, or catch up with friends? Latin Fever will provide your child with fun-filled activities, games, movies and more. $35 for 2.5 hours and snacks or $15 for one hour. 7:30-10pm.
• Practice yoga at the Family of Light Holistic Center, 7:30-9pm.

Saturday, November 8

Free family bird watching tour at Prospect Park, 10-11am.
Rae Chandran will be in New York City for the first time for a five-day event at the Family of Light Holistic Center. There will be a Melchizedeck Mystery school workshop Saturday, 10am-5pm.
• Children ages 3 to 5 and their parents/caregivers are welcome to attend Ready, Set, Kindergarten at the Cortelyou Library. In this special six-session series, families will enjoy stories and activities designed to encourage early learning development, 11am.
Join Compost for Brooklyn for their fall compost hours, 11am-1pm.
• There’s Sahaja yoga meditation at the Cortelyou Library, 12:30-2pm.
Dirty Water Dogs performs their Cajun/Zydeco/Funk rocking & rollicking fun at Bar Chord, 9pm.

Sunday, November 9

• Check out all the fresh veggies, fruit, and more at the Cortelyou greenmarket (Cortelyou between Argyle and Rugby), 8am-3pm.
• Join the Family of Light Holistic Center for yoga, 9:30-11am.
Rae Chandran will be in New York City for the first time for a five-day event at the Family of Light Holistic Center. There will be the second part of his Melchizedeck Mystery school workshop Sunday, 10am-5pm.
Kids yoga with Jen at Lark Cafe, 11am.
• Join the Family of Light Holistic Center for Pranic yoga, 4-5:30pm.
Cortelyou Jazz Jam at Bar Chord, 9pm.
