Monday, October 13
• Check out the weekly Shape Up NYC Couch to 5k Group Run, meeting at the Lefferts Historic House, 7pm.
• Work in a neighborhood bar or restaurant? Come take advantage of drink specials at Industry Night, 773 Lounge, 9pm.
• Get your laugh on at Going to Hell comedy at Bar Chord, 9pm.
Tuesday, October 14
• Join the drop-in sing-along with Miss Katie at Lark Cafe, 11am.
• Babies, from age 0 to 18 months, and their parents/caregivers are welcome to join Babies and Books at Cortelyou Library, 11:15am.
• Come sing and dance with Amy Miles at Lark Cafe, 4pm.
• Children ages 6 and up are invited to have fun at the Explore & Create event at the Cortelyou Library, 4pm.
• Equality for Flatbush will hold its meeting about saving affordable housing in our neighborhood at the Flatbush Library, 5:30-7:30pm.
• All are invited to Councilman Jumaane Williams’ participatory budget kick-off at a meeting at his district office, 6:30-8pm.
• Join the Brooklyn Front Runners (a multi-sport club for LGBT and LGBT-friendly athletes) for a run at Prospect Park every Tuesday evening, 7pm.
• Join the Brooklyn Public Philosophers for a talk by Yeshiva University professor Jamie Aroosi about how the work of Søren Kierkegaard sheds light on questions of love, faith and science fiction. Central Library (Flatbush Avenue & Eastern Parkway), 7pm.
• Singer-songwriter Alexis Pastuhov performs at Bar Chord, 9pm.
Wednesday, October 15
• Lend the Wednesday Corps a hand at Prospect Park (call 718-287-3400 for location), 10am.
• Attend a sing-along with neighbor Debbie Deane at Lark, 10am.
• A new gentle yoga class each Wednesday at the Church of the Nativity (1099 Ocean Avenue, by Farragut) will include stretching, strengthening, and breathing deeply, and the instructor noted it’s good for those with arthritis, hypertension, diabetes, or just regular aches and pains. $10 suggested donation, 10:30am.
• Brooklyn Historical Society presents “We the People” The Citizens of NYCHA in Pictures and Words,” an exhibition that aims to debunk the varied stigmas and stereotypes applied to people living in NYCHA housing. The exhibition will continue through March 2015 and can be viewed Wednesday through Sunday from 12-5pm.
• Children in grades 1 through 8 can get help with their homework at the Cortelyou Library, 3-5pm.
• Teenagers are invited to the PS3 gaming time at the Cortelyou Library, 4-5pm.
• Bobby Hawk and Ross Martin perform bluegrass and more at Bar Chord, 9pm.
